Dr. and Mrs. Marvin and Virginia Faile are celebrating their 60th anniversary on March 1. They were married at Calvary Baptist Church in Rome in 1953 by Rev. H.E. Wright.

They moved back to Rome in 1990.

Mrs. Faile is the former Virginia Toles of Rome. Her parents were J. Earl and Velma Toles of Rome. Mr. Faile is a native of Lancaster, S.C. His parents were Ernest and Euree Faile of Lancaster.

The couple met while students at Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tenn.

The Failes have five children: Teresa Fowlkes of Toccoa, Steve Faile of Cartersville, David Faile of Beavercreek, Ohio, Tim Faile of Rome and the late Linda Faile Talley.

They have 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Marvin and Virginia have served as senior pastor at several churches in Florida, North Carolina and Georgia for 55 years. Marvin is the published author of two books. The Failes are active members of Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church.

They attribute their long marriage to a commitment they made to God 60 years ago.
