Snow possible, rainfall at surplus

A freeze warning is in effect this morning until 9 a.m., according to the National Weather Service, along with a winter weather advisory that could include snow.

And a soggy February has Rome’s rainfall slightly above normal in the early days of March, according to rainfall numbers provided by the NWS.

In January and February, 14.47 inches of rain was recorded at Richard B. Russell Regional Airport, well above of the 9.42 inch average for the first two months of the year.

February’s total was 5.23 inches, well below the 9.24 inches reported in January.

Today: Rain and snow are likely, becoming all rain after 10 a.m. with a high near 43. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half-inch is possible. Low around 27.
