The Second Annual Starving Artist Expo returns to Rome on March 23.

Sponsored by the Rome Area Council for the Arts, the event will showcase the work of 13 local artists in media including wood work, iron work, pottery, pop art, oil paintings, glasswork and more.

The event will take place in Historic Oakdene at 7 Coral Avenue from noon to 7 p.m.

Featured artists will include Nadia Brown, oil on canvas paintings; Sasha Egorova, oil on canvas paintings; Gorg Hubenthal,wood turning and wood furniture; Mindy Hubenthal, crochet jewelry; April Ingram, photography; Lisa Brown Ingram, pottery; Stephanie Kipfer, jewelry and handbags; Toby Layman, ceramics; Adam Sikes, handmade guitars; Lisa Smith, pottery; Ryan Smith, photography; Noel Thomas glass work; and Rex Treadaway, iron work.

“The Starving Artist Expo was created to give emerging artists a local  opportunity to display their talents without the demands of larger shows,” said Lisa Brown Ingram, show organizer.  “This event aims to allow artists to focus on creating work and showcase them to the public while connecting Rome to fresh local art.” 

Festivities will include live music and art demonstrations. Pianist AJ Pierce will perform at the event from noon to 2 p.m. and guitarist Lon Eldridge will perform from 2-4 pm. Painter Sasha Egorova will paint throughout the event.

Canned and dry goods will be accepted at the event for those in need in Northwest Georgia and monetary donations will be collected to provide food for trafficked children in Nepal.
