A man accused of stealing a jewel worth more than $25,000 and replacing it with a fake was arrested Friday, Floyd County Jail records state.

Charles Edward Young II, 37, of 1853 Old Shannon Road, faces charges of theft by deception and theft by taking, records state.

According to reports, a woman took her ring to a store where Young worked in 2007 for repairs.

Young allegedly removed the stone from the ring and replaced it with a synthetic stone worth much less.

Reports state the switch wasn't discovered until August 2010.
