Representatives from the Mobile District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be at The Forum in Rome Tuesday March 26, 5 p.m. to provide details of the draft Water Control Manual for the Alabama-Coosa-Tallapoosa River Basin.

A copy of the draft environmental impact statement will also be available for inspection.

The Water Control Manual will dictate how the Corps of Engineers will operate reservoirs under its authority across the ACT basin. Lake Allatoona and Carters Lake in Georgia are both included in the plan, as is Weiss Lake in Alabama.

The manual has been at the heart of the water negotiations between Georgia and Alabama for much of the last two decades.

The Corps hopes to file a final, formal document with the federal Environmental Protection Agency later this year and looks for an October Record of Decision.
