Two Floyd County Jail inmates allegedly involved in a fight that disfigured an inmate last October will be arraigned in Floyd County Superior Court today.

Timothy Dalton Barton, 31, of 3839 Franklin Highway, Franklin, is accused of stabbing two men while being housed in the “M” block, which is maximum security.

According to jail reports and Lt. Scott Knight, he stabbed one man in the front of the lower neck with a razor blade and another person in the face and neck. One of the inmates was disfigured, according to the warrant.

Dewayne Ramon Young, 32, of 207 Central St., Cedartown, is accused of holding one of the inmates while Barton stabbed him.

Knight said he does not know how Barton got the razor blade.

Young and Barton are each charged with one felony count of aggravated assault, one count of aggravated battery, a felony count of possession of a weapon behind the guard line, a felony count of riot in a penal institute and a felony count of street gang activity.

Barton is facing an additional count of aggravated assault.

The two claimed to be members of the prison gang “Gangster’s Disciples,” according to the warrant.

Barton was in jail on charges of felony aggravated assault, reckless conduct, criminal damage to property, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of firearm by a convicted felon, participating in a street gang, conspiracy to commit a crime and parole violation. The charges stemmed from an incident last April where he fired a 9mm handgun into a Maple Street residence while driving by it.

Young was being held on felony charges of two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and first-degree cruelty to children.

He is accused of firing shots at a woman walking down Crane Street in May of last year, forcing her to the ground and assaulting her. He then forced his way into another woman’s residence and assaulted her in front of her young son.

The two men will appear before Floyd County Superior Court Judge Bryant Durham at 9 a.m. for arraignment.
