A Rome man remained in jail Monday morning after he encountered a Georgia State Patrol traffic checkpoint Sunday night, according to Floyd County Jail reports.

According to the report:

Dustin Wayne Salmon, 29, 404A Woods Road, Rome, did not have a license in his possession when he approached the checkpoint on Woods Road north of Ga. 20 around 10 p.m.

A check on his name and date of birth through GCIC came back with a warrant through Chattooga County for failure to appear.

Police also allegedly found several pills on Salmon.

Salmon was charged with felony possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and misdemeanor counts of driving without a license in possession and drugs not in their original container.
