Brianna Taylor, a senior at Model High School, has been selected as the school's STAR Student for 2013. Taylor named Paige Reece, a biology teacher at Model High, as her STAR Teacher. Taylor was in Ms. Reece's Honors Prep Biology and AP Biology class. Taylor and Reece were presented their STAR honors by the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce at a student assembly held recently at Model High.

Taylor has a perfect 4.0 grade-point average as a student at Model High. She will graduate in May as one of the Valedictorians at Model having completed the Honors College Preparatory Seal with 22 Honors/AP classes. Taylor has been active in the Blue Devils Marching Band and Concert Band and is an accomplished clarinet player. She served as Drum Major for the band her junior year. Taylor is a member of the National Honor Society and she was a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes her 10th grade year.

After graduation, Taylor will pursue an Environmental Law Degree from Vassar College where she will attend on full scholarship. To gain experience and knowledge of the law field, she has worked with the Brinson, Askew, and Berry Law Firm while at Model through the school system's Executive Internship program.

Ms. Reece is the science department chairperson at Model High. She teaches Biology, Gifted Biology, and AP Biology. She also coaches tennis, cross-country and is assistant girls' basketball coach.

The Student-Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) award, sponsored by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce; the Georgia Department of Education and the Professional Association of Georgia Educators, is presented to a high-school senior with the school’s highest SAT score and ranking in the top ten percent or top ten members of the school’s senior class. Each STAR Student selects a STAR Teacher in the recognition program.
