ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta police say a woman and two children have been found safe after being carjacked.

Police spokesman John Chafee says the suspect tried carjacking a man near Turner Field Friday night and shot him in his chest. The man was able to flee the scene and was later taken to Grady Hospital in stable condition. Chafee says after the man fled, a woman driving with two children in the car drove to the scene. Chafee says the man forced his way into the woman's car and ordered her to drive away.

Police spokesman Carlos Campos tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution the woman and her two children were found safe at The Mall West End, nearly three miles away. Campos says the woman and her two children were not injured.
