Adairsville man scares off prowler with gunshot

A Bartow man told officers that he fired a single round from a handgun into the ground after he found a man loitering outside his house, reports stated.

According to reports from the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office:

Deputies came to the Golden Eagle Drive address in Adairsville after the man scared off a prowler with a single gunshot from a .40 caliber handgun.

The man told deputies he had seen a silver vehicle driving up and down the street, then saw a male in a hooded sweatshirt and a backpack near his car. After the man stepped outside and yelled at the suspect, firing a shot, the prowler fled.He was picked up by someone driving what appeared to be a silver 3-series BMW.

Nothing was taken and there was no damage done. There were no suspects in custody at the time of the report.
